Curtis Brown twitter pitch day attracts more than 2000 pitches

In the UK, more than 2000 book projects were pitched online to literary agents Curtis Brown and Conville & Walsh as part of the first ‘#PitchCB’ day, reports the Bookseller. Unpublished authors were invited to tweet a one-line pitch using the #PitchCB hashtag, and if their tweets were favourited by an agent, to submit their projects via the Curtis Brown online submission portal. Around 100 tweets were favourited. The agency said the hashtag reached more than 2.6m people and was seen more than 5.3m times. Richard Pike from Curtis Brown said the initiative removed geographical barriers, with pitches received from around the world. ‘140 characters gives a good indication [of how good a writer is] because if you’re able to capture an idea in that limit it shows you have a talent with words,’ said Pike. ‘#PitchCB’ will be held on the fourth Friday of every month.
