Inaugural ‘Bookseller’ YA Book Prize shortlist announced

Ten books are in the running for UK book publication the Bookseller’s inaugural YA Book Prize. They are: Goose (Dawn O’Porter, Hot Key Books), Say Her Name (James Dawson, Hot Key Books), The Ghosts of Heaven (Marcus Sedgwick, Orion), A Song for Ella Grey (David Almond, Hodder) Trouble (Non Pratt, Walker Books), Lobsters (Lucy Ivison & Tom Ellen, Chicken House), Half Bad (Sally Green, Penguin), Only Ever Yours (Louise O’Neill, Quercus), Finding a Voice (Kim Hood, O’Brien Press) and Salvage (Keren David, Atom). As previously reported by Books+Publishing, the Bookseller launched the prize for young adult books earlier this year in response to a lack of existing awards. The award, worth £2000 (A$3739), is open to YA books published in the UK or Ireland during 2014, and is judged by a panel of teenage readers and industry experts. The winner will be announced in March. More information about the award is available here.
