S&S partners with New York’s Algonquin Hotel

In the US, Simon & Schuster has formed a new partnership with New York’s Algonquin Hotel, which will offer guests the opportunity to stay in the hotel’s Simon & Schuster Suite, reports the Bookseller. The Suite is located on the seventh floor of the hotel, which is famous for its literary connections with American writers such as Dorothy Parker and Robert Benchley. It features a lounge room and bedroom with king-size bed, with both rooms decorated with book memorabilia, and a bookshelf that includes a collection of literary classics and bestsellers. Guests will also receive an advance copy of a S&S book on the first night of their stay and a complimentary breakfast in the Round Table Room, which was the meeting place of the Round Table literary group of writers that began after World War I. S&S plans to run author readings at the hotel that will be open to guests and the public. S&S US senior vice president for marketing Liz Perl said ‘we are constantly looking for non-traditional venues that can expand the range of attendees at author events, as well as partnerships that can bring further visibility to our current publishing and company history. The Algonquin, with its longstanding and illustrious literary tradition, and its appeal to author, reader and traveller alike, is the perfect partner to further that ongoing effort.’
