Creative Victoria announces changes to organisation funding

Creative Victoria has announced changes to its funding for organisations ahead of its 2017 funding cycle.

Funding for the Organisations Investment Program has changed to four years for all organisations, up from three years for small to medium organisations and down from six years for large ones.

The new minimum grants threshold is now $60,000 per annum, up from $40,000.

The application process has also been aligned with the Australia Council’s application requirements and funding cycle.

Creative Industries minister Martin Foley said in a statement that the changes address ‘long held industry concerns’. ‘Consultation with the small, medium and independent arts and cultural sector found that while the program’s fundamental principles around investment in growth were sound, there were structural issues that disadvantaged newer, developing organisations,’ said Foley. ‘It also found the program imposed an unnecessarily cumbersome administrative burden on all applicants.’

The Organisations Investment Program was introduced in 2013 and provided $26m in grants to 88 organisations in the latest cycle. Previous recipients of the funding programs include Australian Poetry, Creative Clunes, Emerging Writers Festival, Express Media, Overland Magazine, the Wheeler Centre and Writers Victoria.
