‘The Grapple Annual’ wins 2015 Most Underrated Book Award

The Grapple Annual No. 1 (ed by Duncan Felton), an anthology of prose, poetry, comics and art published by Canberra independent press Grapple Publishing, has won this year’s Most Underrated Book Award (MUBA).

The winner was announced in Melbourne on 20 November as part of the Small Press Network’s (SPN) Independent Publishing Conference. The Grapple Annual No. 1 was chosen from a shortlist of three, which included Isabelle of the Moon and Stars (S A Jones, UWAP) and Funemployed: Life as an Artist in Australia (Justin Heazlewood, Affirm Press).

The MUBA aims to ‘shine a light on some of the outstanding titles that are released by small and independent Australian publishers that, for whatever reason, did not receive their fair dues when first released’. Last year, Jane Rawson won the award for A Wrong Turn at the Office of Unmade Lists (Transit Lounge).
