Walkley Book Award 2015 longlist announced

The longlist for the 2015 Walkley Book Award, which recognises excellence in Australian nonfiction literature and long-form journalism, has been announced.

The longlisted titles are:

  • The Rise and Fall of Gunns LTD (Quentin Beresford, New South)
  • Charles Bean (Ross Coulthart, HarperCollins)
  • Catch and Kill (Joel Dean, UQP)
  • The War on Journalism (Andrew Fowler, William Heinemann)
  • Acute Misfortune: The Life and death of Adam Cullen (Erik Jensen, Black Inc.)
  • The Straight Dope (Chip Le Grand, MUP)
  • The Family Court Murders (Debi Marshall, Ebury)
  • Mannix (Brenda Niall, Text)
  • An Inconvenient Genocide (Geoffrey Robertson, Vintage)
  • Blood and Guts (Sam Vincent, Black Inc.).

 

David Kilcullen’s essay ‘Blood Year: Terror and the Islamic State’, published in Quarterly Essay 58 (Black Inc.), has been nominated for the Walkley Award for Feature Writing Long (over 4000 words).

The shortlist for the Walkley Book Award will be announced on 5 November. The winners of the Walkley Awards will be announced at a gala presentation on 3 December in Melbourne and will be broadcast live on Sky APAC.
