IBBY Australia announces 2016 Honour Books

IBBY Australia has selected three titles for the 2016 International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) Honour Book List, including, for the first time, a book in translation.

The Incredible Here and Now (Felicity Castagna, Giramondo) was selected for the writing category, Banjo and Ruby Red (Libby Gleeson, illus by Freya Blackwood, Little Hare) for the illustration category, and Nine Open Arms (Benny Lindelauf, trans by John Nieuwenhuizen, A&U) for translation.

The IBBY Honour Book List is compiled biennially by the international sections of IBBY, with each country selecting books published in the previous two years.

The 2016 list will be displayed at the IBBY Congress in Auckland in 2016 and at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, as well as travelling to other countries.
