Wilderness Society announces 2015 children’s book award winners

The winners of the 2015 Wilderness Society Environment Award for Children’s Literature have been announced.

The winning books in each category are:

Fiction

  • Rescue on Nim’s Island (Wendy Orr, illus by Geoff Kelly, A&U)

 

Picture book

  • Rivertime (Trace Balla, A&U)

 

Nonfiction

  • Emu (Claire Saxby, illus by Graham Byrne, Walker Books) and Our Class Tiger (Aleesah Darlison, illus by Antonia Stylianou, OUP).

 

The award is presented annually to fiction and nonfiction books that ‘foster a love of wild places and wildlife in young Australians’ and ‘encourage a sense of responsibility for our natural world’. The winning books were chosen from shortlists in each category, announced in May.
