PRH UK and Amazon in terms dispute

Penguin Random House (PRH) UK and Amazon are in dispute over terms, with a new contract currently under negotiation, reports the Bookseller. While neither company has confirmed the terms under dispute, a spokesperson for Amazon told news website Recode that it has ‘long-term deals in place already with the other four major publishers’ and ‘would accept any similar deal with Penguin Random House UK’. According to the Bookseller, the terms negotiations relate to ‘revised agency deals put in place after a European Commission investigation four years ago’, and do not include PRH US. There is no indication that Amazon has removed or delayed the sale of PRH UK titles from its website, as the company did to Hachette US titles during its terms dispute in 2014.
