UK crime writers launch Killer Women collective

In the UK, 15 London-based female crime writers have teamed up to launch Killer Women, a collective project that will offer debates, talks, interviews and workshops to the public, reports the Independent. The group includes cofounders Melanie McGrath (writing as M J McGrath), Louise Miller and The Girl on the Train author Paula Hawkins, and follows similar crime-writing collectives such as Sisters in Crime in Australia and the US and Tart Noir in the UK. McGrath told the Independent she hopes the collaborative nature of Killer Women will allow them to ‘achieve a direct connection to readers—we can bring out anthologies under our own brand and put on a variety of specially-tailored events’. Those events currently include a debate on the relationship between women and violence in crime-writing, and a meet-and-greet at London’s Crime Fest.
