New ABIA sponsors announced; award funding up 24%

Dymocks, 3M Cloud Library and JCDecaux have been announced as the major sponsors of this year’s Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIAs), with overall funding for the awards up 24% on 2014.

3M is a new major sponsor for the ABIAs. Already operating in the US and Canada, 3M Cloud Library—an app enabling library members to borrow, read and listen to books from local libraries—will enter the Australian market in the coming months.

Dymocks and JCDecaux both return as major sponsors. They join other sponsors, including Agency North, Booktopia, Nielsen BookScan, TitlePage, Books+Publishing and Simpsons Solicitors.

ABIA spokesperson James Kellow said: ‘It’s exciting to have such healthy investment from key players in the book industry: a major book retailer, an innovative business encouraging people to read in different ways, and a company that helps us reach readers through creative advertising.’

The ABIAs will be presented at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf in Sydney on 21 May 2015 during the Sydney Writers’ Festival. To view the shortlists for this year’s awards, click here.
