QWC launches crowdfunding campaign to support writers from diverse backgrounds

The Queensland Writers Centre (QWC) has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $25,000 for an inaugural Scholarships and Access Fund for writers from diverse backgrounds, to coincide with the centre’s 25th anniversary.

The fund will provide bursaries and travel stipends to writers who might otherwise be unable to access professional development programs. The fund aims to support writers from diverse backgrounds, including writers who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, live with a disability, LGBTTIQ, from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and from remote or regional Queensland.

From 2016, the centre plans to support 20 writers each year over three years, and hopes to establish the Scholarships and Access Fund as a permanent program. For more information and to donate, visit the Pozible page here.
