The Byron Bay Writers Festival has announced that Julia Gillard, Joan London, Helen Garner, Kate Grenville and Jackie French will be the headline writers at this year’s festival, which runs from 7-9 August.

Gillard will be in conversation with author and historian Clare Wright, and will discuss her ‘personal motivations, wins, disappointments and legacies as Australia’s first female Prime Minister’. French will participate at an event at the ‘Kids Big Day Out’, which will also feature author Andy Griffiths and illustrator Terry Denton. London, whose novel The Golden Age (Vintage) is in the running for several literary awards, will speak at a number of events across the festival, while Grenville and Garner will discuss their recent books One Life (Text) and This House of Grief (Text) respectively.

Early bird tickets will be available on 17 April and the full program will be announced on 12 June. For more information, visit the BWF website here.
