New staff, bookseller for Byron Bay Writers Festival

The Byron Bay Writers Festival (BBWF) has announced the appointment of three new staff and a new festival bookseller.

Joanna Trilling has joined the festival as communications manager, Mouche Phillips has joined as sponsorship manager and Barnaby Smith has been appointed editor of the Northern Rivers Writers’ Centre’s bimonthly magazine Northerly. All three positions are part-time, contract roles.

Festival director Edwina Johnson said she was ‘delighted the festival has attracted three professionals with such a wealth of creative talent and experience’. ‘All three have a breadth of experience across the arts and a passion for BBWF and its pivotal role in the local and national literary community,’ she said.

The festival has also announced that Mary Ryan’s Byron Bay will be the official bookseller at this year’s event following a change of ownership of the Collins Byron Bay in February. Johnson told Books+Publishing that the Mary Ryan’s store won the tender because of its ‘many years of strong support of the festival’.

This year’s Byron Bay Writers Festival runs from 7-9 August. For more information, visit the website here.
