Bonnier Group launches Echo Publishing

UK-based, Swedish-owned media company the Bonnier Group, owner of The Five Mile Press, has launched a new publishing house, Echo Publishing, specialising in narrative nonfiction, photography and fiction titles.

Echo Publishing has opened an office in South Melbourne and will publish its first titles in May. Echo Publishing and The Five Mile Press managing director Alexandra Maramenides told Books+Publishing that the publisher is initially aiming to publish 50 titles per year.

‘We want to be the ultimate Australian publishing house, attracting exceptional local writers, photographers and talents,’ said Maramenides. ‘Our aim is to give our readers the very best reading experience, across several genres. We will give our authors and titles the personal touch and support that they all need.’

Bonnier is moving titles from The Five Mile Press’ adult list to create Echo Publishing’s initial list, with the Five Mile Press to focus exclusively on children’s books in the future. Maramenides said The Five Mile Press will continue to publish approximately 360 titles per year and will remain at its current office in the Melbourne suburb of Scoresby.

Echo Publishing’s trade sales and distribution will be managed through The Five Mile Press. For more information, visit the Echo Publishing Facebook page here.
