University publishing symposium to be held in Canberra in March

A one-off symposium on university publishing will be held at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra in March.

The ‘Reinventing university publishing’ symposium, to be held from 17-19 March, brings together representatives from university presses, universities and libraries for discussions on academic publishing.

Among the symposium’s goals are to showcase local and international developments in university publishing, inform library and publishing communities about ‘issues and models for scholarly communication’, and promote awareness of the needs of authors and editors of scholarly publications.

The program includes a panel on ‘universities’ perspectives’ with representatives from Monash University Publishing, Sydney University Press, University of Adelaide Press and ANU Press. Keynote speeches will be presented by Australia Research Council CEO Aidan Byrne, Library Publishing Coalition program manager Sarah Lippincott, and Kevin Hawkins, director of Library Publishing at the University of North Texas Libraries.

The symposium is an initiative of the Council of Australian University librarians. To view the full program, visit the website here.
