Grattan Institute releases PM summer reading list

Australian public policy think tank Grattan Institute has released its annual summer reading list for the Prime Minister.

The list contains ‘books and articles that we believe the Prime Minister—or indeed any Australian—will find stimulating over the break. They’re all good reads that say something interesting about Australia, the world and the future’. The titles are:

  • Why Australia Prospered: The Shifting Sources of Economic Growth (Ian W McLean, Princeton University Press)
  • Fire and Ashes: Success and Failure in Politics (Michael Ignatieff, Harvard University Press)
  • Anzac’s Long Shadow: The Cost of Our National Obsession (James Brown, Black Inc.)
  • A Rightful Place: Race, Recognition and a More Complete Commonwealth in Quarterly Essay 55 (Noel Pearson, Black Inc.)
  • The Golden Age (Joan London, Vintage)
  • The Wife Drought (Annabel Crabb, Ebury)
  • ‘The Inequality Puzzle’ (Lawrence H Summers, Democracy Journal article).
