Australia Council ‘new work’ grants announced

The Australia Council has announced the successful applicants in its ‘new work’ grant categories.

Fiona McFarlane (The Night Guest, Penguin) and Courtney Collins (The Burial, A&U) are among the authors to receive grants. A statement from the Australia Council said McFarlane will use the grant to write a new book exploring ‘an overlooked aspect of Australian history’ and interrogating ‘national narratives about race, immigration and war’. Collins will work on her second book The Walkman Mix, about ‘someone who is looking for love in all the wrong places in a fictional mining town in New South Wales in 1992’.
