New website, awards promote Australian romance writing

A new website and readers choice awards have been launched to promote Australian romance writing.

The AusRomToday website, formerly called Creative Conversations, was launched in June by romance author J’aimee Brooker. The website aims ‘to showcase the published Australian romance industry to readers worldwide’, and will feature information about new and forthcoming romance books, interviews, cover reveals, publishing news and giveaways. Authors will have the opportunity to write guest posts as well as request promotional support.

The website covers Australian romance books of all sub-genres and lengths, from novels to short stories. It’s also open to traditionally published and self-published books.

Australian romance authors who have already been featured on the website include Kate Belle, Rachael Johns, Kylie Scott and Helene Young.

The website has also announced its inaugural AusRomToday Reader’s Choice Awards in the following categories: Best New Author, Best Established Author, Cover of the Year, Author of the Year and Book of the Year. Nominations for the awards are open till 30 October, with public voting open to 1 November.

‘The key objective of AusRomToday’s Reader’s Choice Awards is to further showcase the diversity and impeccable quality of the published Australian romance industry to readers worldwide,’ said AusRomToday in a statement. Brooker said the awards have already received ‘well over 150 nominations’ in the past 12 hours.
