Google concedes on non-US titles

The UK Publishers Association has welcomed Google's confirmation that books available in Europe though out-of-print in the US still count as "commercially available" under the Google Settlement. According to a Google spokesperson, it means these books "can only be displayed to US users if expressly authorised by rights holders". The UK trade body also applauded the move "to include UK-specific concerns" within the deal.
