Top five trade publishers made US$4.6 billion in revenue in 2008

The five largest trade publishers operating in the US -- Random, Penguin, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster and Hachette -- reported a total of US$4.6 billion in worldwide revenue during 2008. Of the five, only Penguin and Hachette saw their worldwide revenue grow during 2008.
