No damages allowed in Tolkien lawsuit

The heirs of J R R Tolkien and publisher HarperCollins have joined together to launch a US$150 million lawsuit against New Line Cinema, the producer of the films of 'The Lord of the Rings', claiming a failure to pay any royalties. While a US court has agreed that there is a legal basis for the fraud claim, the judge has ruled that no punitive damages will be awarded.
