With US$116 million in sales from its Blackwell Publishing subsidiary, total revenue at John Wiley & Sons rose 48% in the quarter ended 31 July 31, to US$389 million. Blackwell also added US$15 million in profits, helping to lift operating income in the quarter to US$46.3 million. Wiley CEO Will Pesce said that based on the first-quarter performance and current market conditions, the company expects full-year sales, excluding Blackwell, to increase in the mid- to high single digits.
