'Private equity firms are planning to pick up a Penguin, or another book publisher, as the slow but steady stream of revenues and royalties looks increasingly attractive to deal hungry venture capitalists,' reports London's Evening Standard newspaper.
According to the paper, internal resistance at Pearson to the idea of selling the publishing business to a venture capitalist is said to be 'melting.' (Although it names no sources.)
HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster are two other publishing entities mooted for buyouts in the speculative story.
