Sampson wins 2015 Finch Memoir Prize

Alan Sampson has won the 2015 Finch Memoir Prize for his entry Schools of Fish.

Sampson, a Queensland high-school principal renowned for ‘transforming weak schools into centres of academic excellence’, writes in his memoir of how he strives to change his own son’s troublesome behaviour following the breakdown of his marriage.

Sampson’s entry was chosen from a shortlist of six. It was published by Finch on 21 May.

The Finch Memoir Prize was first awarded in 2010. Last year’s winner was Karen Harrland for Spinifex Baby.
