Margaret River Press directors launch Perth’s Centre for Stories

Margaret River Press directors John and Caroline Wood have launched a new literary events organisation in Perth.

The Centre for Stories, located in the inner-city suburb of Northbridge, will run events that ‘explore the art of storytelling’, as well as writing and publishing workshops. The centre will also work with community groups ‘to collect stories to compile into a series of online content showcases’.

The events program kicks off on 8 October with author readings from the Review of Australian Fiction WA edition. Other events include an evening of storytelling around the Indian Festival of Lights, a group writing session called Shut Up and Write!, and a workshop on the pathway to publication with author Natasha Lester. Prices for events and workshops range from $7.50 to $45.

The organisers have described the centre as ‘a social enterprise providing programs to encourage the sharing of stories in Australia and beyond’. ‘The Centre for Stories’ goal is to provide people of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to tell, share and preserve the stories of our lives.’
