New festival director, board chair for BWF

The Brisbane Writers Festival (BWF) has appointed a new festival director and acting CEO for 2015.

Julie Beveridge replaces current festival director and CEO Kate Eltham, who is taking maternity leave from mid-March. Beveridge has more than 10 years’ experience in Queensland’s writing sector, including BWF program manager for the past two years, program and services manager at the Queensland Writers Centre and director of the Queensland Poetry Festival.

The festival has also appointed Dominic McGann, chairman of McCullough Robertson Lawyers, as BWF chair. McGann replaces David Fishel, who is stepping down after being chair since July 2011.

The 2015 BWF will be held from 2-6 September.
