Australians nominated for 2015 Carnegie, Greenaway medals

The nominations for the 2015 Carnegie and Kate Greenaway medals, presented by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) in the UK, have been announced.

Australian author Morris Gleitzman is among the 91 authors nominated for the Carnegie Medal, presented to the writer of an outstanding children’s book. Gleitzman is longlisted for Loyal Creatures (Viking).

Australian authors and illustrators Bob Graham and Shaun Tan are among the 71 nominees for the Kate Greenaway Medal, presented for distinguished illustration in children’s books. Graham is nominated for Vanilla Ice Cream (Walker Books) and Tan for Rules of Summer (Lothian).

A longlist will be announced on 10 February 2015, followed by the shortlist announcement on 17 March and the winners announcement on 22 June.

In 2014, Kevin Brooks won the Carnegie Medal for The Bunker Diary (Puffin) and Jon Klassen won the Kate Greenaway Medal for This is Not My Hat (Walker Books).
