Amazon offers same-day delivery in 12 major cities

In the US, Amazon has expanded its same-day delivery service for customers in the metro areas of 12 major cities, said the company in a statement. Customers will be able to click on a ‘Get It Today’ option that allows them to order as late as midday, seven days a week, and have items delivered to their home by 9pm the same day. Prime members pay a single delivery fee of US$5.99 (A$6.40) for an unlimited number items in the order. Non-Prime members pay a US$9.98 (A$10.67) fee for the first item and US$0.99 (A$1.06) for each additional item. The same-day service has been operating in the US cities San Francisco, Phoenix, Seattle, Dallas and Los Angeles, and has now expanded to cover Boston, Chicago, Greater Washington DC and Baltimore, Indianapolis, New York City and parts of New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Over one million items are eligible for the service, including new release titles, cables, batteries, toiletries, stationery and craft supplies. A ‘Get It by Tomorrow’ option will allow customers to order items that can be delivered on the following day.
