In the US, federal judge Denise Cote has set 3 June, 2013, as the start date for the Department of Justice (DOJ) anti-trust case against Apple, Penguin and Macmillan,
reports Publishers Weekly. As
previously reported by Bookseller+Publisher, Apple, Penguin and Macmillan have formally denied the DOJ’s claims that they conspired to charge higher prices for ebooks following the launch of Apple’s iPad in the US in 2010. HarperCollins, Hachette and Simon & Schuster have each reached
settlement agreements with the DOJ over the same claims.
