Berkelouw to open new Port Macquarie store

Work on a new Berkelouw Books store in Port Macquarie, NSW, will begin in September.

The store, which will open in Port Central Shopping Centre, will focus on ‘providing value to the local community through literary events, author talks, and building relationships with local book clubs, schools, hospitals and universities’, according to Berkelouw Books managing director Paul Berkelouw.

Berkelouw told Port Macquarie News the store would feature a ‘dedicated children’s area, and a lounge area for people to pause with a glass of wine or cup of coffee while they browse our bestsellers, second-hand books and unique titles’.

The store is a ‘key feature’ of changes to the shopping centre, according to the centre’s managing director John Gowing. ‘Berkelouw Books will open out onto Hay St south, next to Michel’s Patisserie, as well as into Port Central itself, creating an important link through to the centre,’ he said.
