The prize was established in April for original short fiction of up to 1000 words in length.

The winning story will be announced in late September and will be published on the label of a Story Wines Shiraz, as well as in Overland. The winner will receive $3000 and two runners-up will each receive $500. The prize will open again in 2015.

Three judges—novelist and editor Clare Strahan, wine writer and critic Campbell Mattinson, and short story writer and novelist Paddy O’Reilly—selected the shortlist from over 400 entries. The judges said they found the stories to be ‘clever and diverse, and of a high standard overall’.
