Random House recalls Eddie Obeid book

Random House has recalled copies of He Who Must Be Obeid by Kate McClymont and Linton Besser due to a ‘misidentification’ in the book.

‘The book contained a misidentification that was included in error. We have acted quickly to ensure the small amount of text that required a rewrite has been rewritten to correct the error. A reprint is being reviewed,’ a Random House spokesperson told Books+Publishing.

Released on 30 July, He Who Must Be Obeid tells the story of corrupt former New South Wales politician and powerbroker Eddie Obeid.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that ‘the authors mistakenly named the son of former federal tourism minister John Brown as a business associate of disgraced former Labor powerbroker Eddie Obeid’.

‘Chris Brown is seeking the pulping of all copies on bookstore shelves, a public apology and the right to pursue compensation for damage to his reputation after he was confused with an Obeid business partner of the same name,’ reports the SMH.
