Writers Victoria announces Glenfern Fellowships, Grace Marion Wilson Emerging Writers Competition winners

Writers Victoria has announced the recipients of this year’s Glenfern Fellowships.

The fellowships for mid-career and established writers were awarded to Jennifer Down, Lee Kofman and Christian Ryan, and the fellowships for emerging writers went to Allison Browning, Matilda-Dixon-Smith and Shivaun Plozza.

The six fellows will receive access to writer’s studios in the National Trust property of Glenfern in Melbourne from October.

Writers Victoria has also announced the winners of the Grace Marion Wilson Emerging Writers Competition.

In the nonfiction category, the first prize, worth $1000, went to Sandra Todorov for her essay ‘A woman must have money’, and the second prize went to Jen Squire for ‘Getting back together, again’. Kate Amesbury was awarded a high commendation for ‘A judge of good character’.

In the short fiction category, Else Fitzgerald was awarded $1000 for her prize-winning story ‘River’. Stephanie Wang won second prize for ‘This is What We Know’ and Magdalena McGuire was awarded a high commendation for ‘Polish Cooking for Beginners’.

The four prize-winning stories will be published in the September/October edition of the Victorian Writer magazine.
