Clunes appoints Hollingworth with Arts Victoria funding, announces inaugural kids festival

Clunes Booktown has appointed Sheila Hollingworth as part-time manager.

The festival has previously been run by volunteers but has received funding from Arts Victoria to create the paid part-time manager position.

Hollingworth, a writer and cartoonist, has ‘been involved, in various ways, with Clunes Booktown since its inception’, said the festival in a statement. She has moved to Clunes to take up the role, which commenced at the beginning of July.

‘I think it’s important to be located in the town that I’m working for, especially since the success of the festival and events will continue to rely heavily on the ongoing input of volunteersm,’ said Hollingworth of the move. ‘It’s vital that I get to know, and be known, by as many people as I can.’

Clunes Booktown Festivals creative director Tess Brady said the funding for Hollingworth’s position ‘recognises the importance of the work of our organisation and the cultural and economic benefits to our region that arise from the festivals and events we coordinate’.

One of Hollingworth’s first tasks is to help organise the inaugural Clunes Booktown for Kids, a festival for children to be held from 31 October to 1 November.

The Clunes Booktown Festival runs in May.
