Celebrities support UK ‘Books Are My Bag’ campaign

In the UK, a number of celebrities are supporting the upcoming ‘Books Are My Bag’ campaign, reports the Bookseller. The trade-wide advertising campaign to promote UK books and bookshops will feature celebrity cooks Jamie Oliver and Delia Smith; actors Bill Nighy, Damian Lewis and Chris O’Dowd; and TV presenter Mariella Frostrup. More celebrities will be announced in the lead-up to the campaign’s launch on 14 September, when bookshops will stage a Big Bookshop Party. According to the Bookseller, the celebrities have been photographed holding the Books Are My Bag tote bags, and booksellers will be able to use the posters in their stores. As previously reported by Books+Publishing, the Books Are My Bag campaign was created by advertising firm M & C Saatchi in collaboration with a range of publishers, and is backed by the Booksellers Association and the Publishers Association. The campaign was launched to the trade at the London Book Fair on 16 April and will run until Christmas. For more information, visit the website here.
