BookShout! launches ebook direct sales platform for publishers

In the US, social reading and ebook retail website BookShout! has launched an ebook direct sales platform for publishers, reports Digital Book World. The company said in a statement that BookShout! ‘is the only platform where publishers can fulfill digital bulk ebook distribution with DRM, white-labeled redemption pages and contact capture tools’. ‘I think the future provides endless opportunities for publishers to work with brands and organizations,’ said BooksShout! CEO Jason Illian. ‘Imagine getting an ebook with your next pair of running shoes or when you buy lumber for a tree house. These are new sales- and audience-building opportunities for brands and lucrative distribution outlets for publishers.’ BookShout! has already signed up a number of companies to the new platform, including HarperCollins, Wiley and Microsoft. Wiley vice president and director of business development for digital books, Peter Balis, said in the statement that the platform ‘open[s] up a number of new opportunities for Wiley’s B2B customers’.
