2012 COOL Awards winners announced

The winners of the 2012 Canberra’s Own Outstanding List (COOL) Awards have been announced.

The winning titles are:

  • Picture Storybooks: The Terrible Plop (Ursula Dubosarsky & Andrew Joyner, Viking)
  • Fiction Younger Readers: Tashi and the Golem (Anna Fienberg, Barbara Fienberg & Kim Gamble, A&U)
  • Fiction Older Readers: The 13-Storey Treehouse (Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton, Pan)
  • Fiction Years 7-9: The Phoenix Files: Arrival (Chris Morphew, HGE).

 

This year’s awards were presented at an event at the Gungahlin Library in Canberra on 16 November. The event was hosted by winner of the Fiction Older Readers category Andy Griffiths.

The COOL Awards are the Australian Capital Territory’s annual children’s choice awards. The winners of this year’s awards were selected from the Reading & Enjoying Australian Literature (REAL) Awards shortlist, which also acts as a shortlist for the children’s choice awards in New South Wales (KOALAs) and Victoria (YABBAs).
