Farrar promoted at Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury Australia managing director Kathleen Farrar has been appointed to the role of Bloomsbury Group sales and marketing director and will relocate to London next year.

Bloomsbury executive director Richard Charkin said in a letter to Bloomsbury staff that Farrar will begin in the new role in January 2013 and will have responsibility for sales and marketing in the UK and US. She will also oversee Bloomsbury’s print and digital performance worldwide.

Charkin said that Farrar ‘will be identifying potential successors’ to lead the publisher’s Australian operations. ‘Kathleen has done a fantastic job setting up Bloomsbury in Australia,’ he said.

Farrar began in the role of Bloomsbury Australia managing director in 2010, with the publisher’s Sydney office opening at the beginning of 2011. Farrar joined Bloomsbury in 1998, having previously worked for Allen & Unwin, and has held a number of roles for the publisher including international sales director and UK marketing and sales director.
