Text Prize 2012 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the 2012 Text Prize for Young Adult and Children’s Writing has been announced.

The shortlisted titles are:

Zac and Mia (Amanda Betts)
Heart of Brass (Louise Curtis)
Painting Phantoms (Skye Melki-Wegner).

The winner of this year’s prize will be announced in Melbourne on 17 July.

Text Publishing presents the Text Prize annually to an unpublished manuscript by an Australian or New Zealand writer. The winner receives a publishing contract with Text and a $10,000 advance against royalties. Last year’s winner, The Relic by Myke Bartlett, will be published as Fire in the Sea this month.

Text said that it received close to 250 entries for this year’s prize. For more information about each of the shortlisted manuscripts, click here.
