NT History Book Award 2012 shortlist announced

The shortlist for this year’s Chief Minister’s Northern Territory History Book Award has been announced.

The shortlisted titles are:

  • Darwin Spitfires: The Real Battle for Australia (Anthony Cooper, UNSW Press)
  • Great Central State: The Foundation of the Northern Territory (Jack Cross, Wakefield Press)
  • Gumbuli of Ngukurr: Aboriginal Elder in Arnhem Land (Murray Seiffert, Acorn Press).

 

The winner of this year’s award, worth $1000, will be announced at an awards ceremony at Parliament House in Darwin on 10 May, along with the winners of the Northern Territory Literary Awards.

The Chief Minister’s Northern Territory History Book Award is administered by the Northern Territory Library and is presented annually to recognise an ‘outstanding publication that contributes significantly to an understanding of Northern Territory history’.
